This tutorial explains how to personalize your account and profile, manage your mailbox and share information about yourself and your work (or not, as you choose).
To access your account, click the link ‘My Account’ in the Menu bar on the left hand side of any webpage. This brings you to a personalized page listing all the wiki pages you have edited or contributed to, any unread messages and forum topics and replies.
Note: The TikiWiki software used on this site refers to your personal account as ‘My Tiki’ but it means the same as ‘My Account’.
Here you can change your language of choice, country, provide a personal website or even create a personal user page (more on this in a sec). Various options also let you manage the layout of the pages you view and the layout of your messaging system.
Privacy settings: It is up to you what information you provide, however please take note of the setting ‘Is email public ‘ and select your option accordingly. We recommend keeping your personal email private by selecting ‘no’, and instead making use of the inbuilt messaging system to communicate with other PrometheusWiki users. You may also choose to modify the settings of ‘User information’ to Public or Private – this simply indicates whether other users can view your details and send you messages. We recommend you leave this as ‘public’ to enable other users to communicate with you easily.
Creating a personal user page: (Optional)
Beneath your personal details and the option to provide your URL, you will see a ‘UserPageYourName (Create)’ link. Click here to design your own personal page to provide additional information about yourself for other users to access. Here is an example:
(For help with creating and editing your personal user page, see Editing Help.)
Creating an Avatar
You can also choose to create an ‘Avatar’ (usually a profile picture) by clicking on the link Pick user Avatar.
A summary of your User Information is displayed on this page. Note: This is similar to what other users will see when they view your profile (if ‘User information’ is set to ‘public’).
Messaging and managing your mailbox
This is where you can read, compose, and sort messages sent within PrometheusWiki, such as alerts from the site administrator and messages from other users. It functions just like an ordinary email inbox.
Using the ‘My Watches’ feature
If you have tagged any pages or sets of pages with the watch feature
to monitor changes and developments, these will appear as a list here. It is a handy way to keep track of areas of the site you are interested in, the activity of certain users, or to ‘keep an eye’ on updates to protocols you have uploaded or contributed to.
